What kind of company is Global Marine?
Rather than being an insurer itself, Global Marine acts as an agency. In other words, it arranges your policy with an insurance company, and that insurer is the one that pays out on claims. Because it is independent, it is not tied to any single provider. The agency's in-house yacht specialists give clients a way to reach several leading yacht insurers.
For you, that means one agency can present offers from more than one insurer, so you can compare prices and cover before deciding.
Boats and watercraft it covers
The agency arranges cover for a broad spread of craft, from small personal machines right up to very large yachts:
- Jet skis and similar personal watercraft
- Power yachts
- Sail yachts
- Mega yachts
- Sailboats used for cruising, racing, or day trips
- Other watercraft
Owners of sailboats can secure cruising, racing, or day-sailing cover.
Yacht coverage options
Policies arranged through Global Marine may offer agreed value cover. With agreed value, you and the insurer settle on the boat's worth when the policy begins. If the boat is a total loss, the payout is based on that figure.
Other yacht coverages include:
- Removal of a wreck
- Hurricane haul-out, which covers the cost of lifting the boat out of the water ahead of a storm
- Cover for paid crew who are injured while working on board, under a US law called the Jones Act
- Lower deductibles for personal items and electronics
- Tender cover included automatically
Your deductible is the share of a claim you cover out of pocket before the insurer steps in, so the lower it is, the less you pay after a loss. The tender is the little boat that ferries you between the yacht and dry land.
Mega yacht coverage
The biggest yachts frequently need protection that goes past what a standard policy provides. For the largest yachts, Global Marine can arrange cover built for mega yachts, such as:
- Chartering now and then
- Protection for fine art and other valuables kept on board
- Navigation territories tailored to the yacht, spelling out the waters where cover applies
Jet ski and personal watercraft policies
For jet skis and other personal watercraft, cover may include:
- Damage to the watercraft, or theft
- Medical bills
- Towing help
- Liability protection
Is there a price list?
There isn't one. Global Marine keeps no fixed price list for boat insurance, so there is no set figure we can hand you for your boat. What you pay comes down to the quotes its partner insurers offer for your particular boat.

Getting a quote
The online quote form from Global Marine compares rates from several major carriers. That way you can look at multiple offers for the same boat side by side, instead of relying on one price from a single company.
Extended warranties for boats
Alongside insurance, Global Marine also offers extended warranties for boats from Global Product Protection. These help pay for major mechanical repairs. They sit apart from the insurance policies as their own product.
Common questions
Is Global Marine well regarded in the industry?
Global Marine has been named a Best Practices Agency by the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America. That is an honour from an agents' trade body rather than a score based on customer reviews.
Can I speak to a quote specialist on a weekend?
Yes, Saturday hours are available. You can call a quote specialist 8 to 6 on weekdays and 9 to 5 on Saturdays, Eastern time.
Can I charter out my mega yacht occasionally?
Chartering now and then is one of the mega yacht coverages available. The Global Marine site gives no further detail on charter terms, so you would have to confirm what each insurer permits in its quote.
